May 25 this year the port of Aktau was visited by a delegation of JSC “NC“ KTZ ”headed by the Chairman of the Management Board N.Ye. Sauranbayev.

Information on the current state and development prospects of Aktau Port was presented by the Chairman of the Management Board (President) AN Turikpenbaev.

Transshipment for 4 months of 2021 amounted to 1 240 thousand tons or 106% of the plan, including:
– transshipment of oil amounted to 736 thousand tons
– transshipment of grain – 287 thousand tons
– metal transshipment amounted to 8 thousand tons
– transshipment of other and general cargoes amounted to 209 thousand tons
– transshipment of containers in all directions amounted to 9,071 TEU.

In 2020, 783 thousand tons of cargo were transported along the TMTM route, an increase in relation to 2019 by 3%, including with the participation of the feeder line 12 491 TEU (+ 50%).
Further building of a single transport and logistics chain in the direction of the TMTM route will give an increase in transit cargo from China in the amount of at least 40 thousand TEUs by 2030.

In the context of a decrease in the volume of cargo transshipment and to maintain its competitiveness, the port of Aktau is taking measures to replace the traditional cargo base, provide new types of services, as well as develop and establish new transit routes through the port of Aktau.

With the participation of DP World, it is planned to establish a new route Tashkent – the port of Aktau – Yarymcha (Istanbul). Transportation will be carried out through the Volga-Don shipping channel. In this direction, it is planned to transport up to 190 TEU containers monthly with consumer goods. The maritime operator will be P&O Maritime Logistics.

As part of another route, Tashkent – st. Oasis (Kazakhstan) – the port of Aktau – Istanbul, the transportation of non-ferrous metals, urea, building materials, polyethylene granules and consumer goods in containers with a monthly volume of 300 TEU is being worked out.
As part of the elaboration of the issue of creating another feeder line, but already in the direction of the port of Turkmenbashi, the main conditions of the draft Agreement with the port of Turkmenbashi have been worked out. Within the framework of the route China – Aktau port – Turkmenbashi port and back, it is planned to transport up to 400 TEU per month.

The head of the delegation of JSC “NC“ KTZ ”discussed with the heads of the ports of Aktau, Kuryk, the National carrier“ KMTF ”and the Association“ TMTM ”possible measures of intra-corporate support within the framework of the assets of the Samruk-Kazyna Fund and gave a number of specific instructions.
