5th Trans-Caspian Forum

The Caspian Political Center gathered politicians and business leaders from the United States and the countries of the Trans-Caspian Corridor at the site of the 5th Trans-Caspian Forum.

The Caspian region is one of the regions in the world with the least internal transport links and there is significant potential for its development, investment and trade through the creation of reliable east-west transit routes. At the same time, outdated and inefficient cross-border infrastructure impedes regional convergence and economic development.

Chairman of the Board (President) of JSC “Sea port of Aktau” A.N. Turikpenbaev, made a report on the measures taken by both the state and the quasi-public sector of Kazakhstan in this direction.

As he noted: “A significant increase in transit cargo turnover is possible only through joint and coordinated actions of all interested parties on existing and prospective routes. And an example of such interaction can be a pilot data exchange project successfully implemented in the ports of Aktau and Baku, which allows us to very quickly manage documentation and be in the trends of modern times”.

In addition, the head of Aktau port informed the forum participants about the possibilities of private business participation in various logistics projects in the region.
