At the site of bilateral meetings of the Conference “Caspian Ports and Shipping-2021”, President of JSC “Sea port of Aktau” Abai Turikpenbayev held talks with the representative of the World Bank’s transport sector, Victor Aragones.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the preliminary conditions of the World Bank grant for the research work “Predictive modeling of changes in the level of the Caspian Sea until 2050”.

These studies, against the background of the absence of promising forecasts for changes in the level of the Caspian Sea, will make it possible to correctly form the costs for the implementation of capital-intensive infrastructure projects of Aktau port, including the project to create a container hub.

First of all, this concerns the costs of dredging works in the water area of ​​Aktau port , the volumes of which can be minimized, thereby reducing the environmental impact.

In addition, the result of the research should be recommendations on the maintenance of hydraulic structures in the seaports of neighboring states and sea vessels operating in the Caspian Sea.
