Sea port of Aktau continues to work on attracting sources of financing for the purchase of new handling equipment (mobile and portal cranes, reach stackers, port tractors,).

This year from April to September, several rounds of negotiations were held with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to discuss indicative proposals of the proposed loan.

On September 12, 2022, as part of a meeting with the EBRD Vice President Alain Pilloux, the parties signed a Letter of Mandate on the consideration of financing conditions for the purchase of loading equipment.

With this document, the EBRD confirms its interest in financing the project (in case of acceptable results of evaluation and negotiations) by providing long-term financing in the form of a secured loan.

The enhancement of capacities with new handling equipment will solve such issues as arrangement of a second technological line for handling of heavy and containerized cargo, that definitely is to increase the capacity of Aktau port.
